The Metacognitive Dimension of Metaliteracy with Char Booth, Trudi Jacobson, and Tom Mackey

Metaliteracy includes a central metacognitive component that promotes reflective learning and “thinking about thinking” related to individual learning goals and objectives. This metacognitive dimension provides us with valuable insights about our own literacy development and prepares us to gain a critical thinking perspective in dynamic new media and open learning environments. How do we gain new insights about our thinking in these environments? How does thinking about our own thinking advance our learning and literacy development? Char Booth will discuss metacognition based on her own research into this topic and relate it to the metaliteracy model.
